Purtis Creek State Park
Come see this quiet picturesque lake that is as serene
I may be a bit snobby but I’d always rather be at our cabin on the lake when I visit Texoma than staying at the state park. I have so many wonderful childhood memories of boating, shooting off fireworks on the 4th of July, and sitting out by the campfire. That said, I always find that I truly enjoy my stay at the park and we’ve been back multiple times. It may be that I really like the people and the TPWD staff here at the park. It may be that I like visiting the city of Denison that I rarely visit when coming up with family. Whatever it is, I absolutely love this park.
Mountain Biking
The mountain bike trail in the park is neat. We always have more fun riding around inside the park and letting the kids be kids. The area, however, is home to some of the best trails in NTX. For rocky, technical riding the trail at Cross Timbers is amazing. If you enjoy backpacking Cross Timbers is home to the best backpack camping on the lake. Binkley Park is just spectacular and is home to a pump traack and skills area. Waterloo Park circles around one of my favorite lakes in any community in Texas and is absolutely beautiful and kids love to find the hidden cave.
